  1. The Muteki, or whatever it's called, is useless for pro sound applications. Sound quality at high outputs will be poor, and there is no way that that tiny unit can put out 800w. I have a 320w RMS receiver which weighs 60lbs...  From working on those plastic things, I can tell you that it cannot put out 800w at a reasonable distortion level. Please avoid buying that kind of stuff.

Look on ebay for a pair of used PA speakers - you can get a 15"+ horn setup for under $80, and an amplifier for under $100. You can then plug in a CD player or MP3 player into that setup and have very loud sound on the cheap.

  2. I'm not certain about renting, but you could invest about $500 in a decent Sony Muteki and always be able to throw down in the future. See if you can get some friends to chip in on it, I think it would be worth it. Here's a link to the Muteki flagship.

  3. yes hire it from me. depends on how many people its for. clubs work on a basses of 1000watts per 100 people. a simple sound system ie 2x bins 2x tops 1x twin cd player 1x mixer 1x amp should be around £115
