  1. There are courses that you can take at your local community college like basic computing, and networking.

    You can also take the same lessons that people who are getting certified in computer networking. You might as well take the certification test since while you're there.

    Certification classes are very pricey, but it'll quickly pay for itself if you're planning to make a career in IT  - it's worth the investment.


  2. You can get a BS in computer science or computer information systems from many universities.  For hardware technical heavyweight work, you can get a BS in Electrical Engineering as well.

    Pretty much any real legit networking professional typically starts with CCNA training and once certified can go into the field rather quickly.  Also, there are plenty of colleges out there!  Just go to your favorite and look at their computer courses.
