Is there a company of mechanics that will check used cars for you?

i want to buy a second hand car but dont know anything about cars and i dont know any mechanics.

the car i saw is in a forecourt.

if you find a mechanic to inspect the car, tell him in advance, I want this car to run well. If it doesn't, you won't get my business.

It's tough to make guys understand. If they say the car is good, when it's not, they think they'll make money.

I'm older, so I could care less. I climb under a car and look for rust, oil leaks, you name it. You're better off to educate yourself.

As above, the most cost effective is to ask a friend who knows about cars, or pay a mechanic from another garage to take a look.

The AA & RAC will give thorough vehicle inspections with written reports;

as stated above, you'll pay over £100 for either of these services, but they are very thorough.

as above. but they can cost in exsess of £100...or if you know a friend who is a  mechanic,take him/her......

The AA or the RAC will check these for you, it'll cost you but it's worth it in the end.
