Is there a continent that lies directly 20 degrees south (latitude) and 0 degrees (longitude)?

I have to create a country in a spot where no other country exists. Its for a school project. But I was not exactly sure if 20 oN and 0 o is good...Thank you. =]

  1. Sorry 20 gegrees South latitude, 0 degrees longitude is already taken. 20 degrees South latitude, 20 degrees West longitude would work a lot better and that would put you in the Southern Atlantic area !!!


  2. No continent. That is in the South Atlantic Ocean, to the east is Namibia.

    I just saw your addition: Even 20 W (longitude) takes you to the middle of South Atlantic Ocean.

  3. Zero degrees longitude is located at Greenwich, England. So look at or think about a map and envision a vertical line going through England north and south.

    20 degrees south latitude is not very far down from the equator, but unfortunately, that will put you just south of Africa's ivory coast! Try going way further north ( at least 40 degrees latitude) or a bit east (longitude).
