Is there a pill that doesnt make you gain weight?

I tried the depot injection for about a year and it doesnt work for me as it makes me bleed constantly.

  1. I don't really know what to say.

I read not too long ago that new research has proven that the pill does not make you gain weight. Its just easy to blame.

Maybe you need to give a brand a long enough time to settle into you system before you give it up for another.

  2. there are contraceptive patches - applied weekly for three weeks, but they still administer hormones.

there are IUDs (intra uterine devices or mechanical types like the diaphragm.

Worth a thought if the various types of hormone pills upset you.

  3. It all depends on how your body reacts to the hormones. Some people gain weight with whatever they try, and some don't gain weight. I wouldn't say there would be a BC pill that absolutely won't make you gain weight, but I would ask your doctor, if there is one with less of a chance. Don't forget there could be other factors that can make you gain weight (stress, new lifestyle, relationships...etc). Good Luck!

  4. i started the pill nearly a year ago and i havent gain any weight still the same as always...

  5. It's a case of hit-and-miss. Each person reacts differently with each pill, so there's no way of knowing which will make you gain weight.

Be sure to try each pill for a minimum of 3 months; it takes this long for your body to get used to it. If you've still got side-effects then, ask your doctor which they recommend.

Also, are you quite sure that it's the pill making you gain weight? You could make a food diary for a week, to check that you're eating that right amounts of the right foods, and make sure it's not your lifestyle that's causing weight gain.

  6. How many pills have you tried altogether?  The only pill I seem to have an issue with (and the one that I'm on right now) is Ortho TriCylen Lo...but I know it's water retention and I know that I CAN get rid of it although I will be talking with my doctor about it when I see him next.

No form of anything can guarantee no weight gain.  I believe it is usually the estrogen that causes the gained weight (which, is usually in the form of water retention - the water enlarges your fat cells in your body).  You could try something with a diueretic in it like Yaz or Yasmin though (I personally had the worst experience on Yasmin, but nothing reacts the same way with 2 different people).
