Will a barrel of nuclear waste produce more gamma rays than a half of a barrel of the same type of nuclear waste.

Yes there is.  For each isotope you will get a certain number of gammas per nuclei.  This is just based on the modes of decay for each of the various nuclei.  So if you have double the amount of the same waste your activity will double and you will get double the gammas.
