Is there a good and economically efficient way to develop alternate energy? I ask this because of former Vice President Gore's recent comments. While I agree with former VP Gore on the importance of developing alternate forms of energy, I do not think his ideas will come at a good price (3 trillion according to him). So, my question to you is, what do you think is a cost effective way of developing alternate energy? Both government and non-governmental solutions are welcome. ^__^

Also a bonus question- What kinds of alternate energy should be developed (specific alternate energy)? Thanks!

I appreciate the answers. Can't wait for them.

  1. Nuclear is considered cleaner / greener than Solar, Wind and other forms when you consider the manufacturing process to bring the technology to market.  It is also cheaper than the others.  This is the reason that some Environmental Groups now support Nuclear.  The problem is that it still suffers the Nuclear Stigma.

My brother works for Varian who makes Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) machines...the stigma was so bad that the Industry renamed the machines to Magnetic Resonance Imagers (MRIs).  Same product, different name.

Solar and Wind along with Wave Technology should continue to be pursued.  I'm not so sure about Geo-Thermal just yet.

Low power consumption products are on the other end of Alternate / Clean Energy curve.  I know some folks that will begin a Startup Company later this year for LED Technology.  Brighter, low power and no heat.  I was already amazed at the 3watt & 5watt LED Flashlights.

Long-term...Helium3 sounds real exciting!  We'll see about that one.

  2. sure just keep raising gas prices its already working.

  3. we need another "creative destruction" like with the dotcom phase or a "manhattan project" where both public and private funds are allocated to come up with tthe best alternative fuel source.

This is a way to use hydrogen from water molecules to fuel cars.  This idea was developed in the sixties; however, the inventor was bribed to shut up because oil companies would go out of business if water was used as a fuel source.
