Is there a country called Hmong?

I know a person who said he's Hmong. I've never heard of that?

No.  The Hmong people cultural group native to southeast Asia, from Laos and surrounding areas.  Because of cultural differences, I believe, they do not identify themselves with any particular Asian nation. After the Vietnam war the US agreed to accept a certain number of Hmong refuges.   I grew up near Sheboygan WI, one of the cities where Hmong  refugees were placed and In my experience they are a very quiet, loving, and family oriented culture and are often very misunderstood by those living near them.

    If they were in Spain, they would be called Basques.

    They are the Highland peoples of several countries in Asia, including South China.

    Find him again and talk to him at length, and he will tell you about Hmongs, if you ask nicely.
