  1. First figure you why any teen would need to have a credit card? The thrill of charging is followed by the pain of paying. To obtain credit in your name you need to be over 18 (under 18 you can't sign a legally binding contract and this is a contract) You need income sufficient to repay the debt and typically a credit history to obtain the card.  Some well meaning parents allow their children to be authorized users on their accounts (usually with unfortunate results)  First Financial Bank offers a credit card for students.  It allows the parents to be involved.  They usually start you with a $250 credit limit and charge no interest or fees as long as it is paid on time and stays below the limit.  It is a good starter card that raises the credit limit (with interest over balances over $250) over time.  However, never open an account unless you really need it.  Consider a bank account with a debit card (w/mastercard or visa logo) first.  Learn to handle money before you get into debt. This card looks like a credit card but is tied to your bank account balance. To many young people graduate from college with lots and lots of debt and a very damaged credit history.

  2. It has to be Under your parents name as you are not yet a adult and still a minor you can not enter into a binding contract with the creditor.

So unless Mom or Dad have one and are willing to trust you with it that your only option is to buy a Pre paid credit card which is available at WalMart or CVS or Rite Aid

You can stop at the place but one at the customer service counter at Walmart  or check out at the other two stores When you wish to add money To it you go back and pay 5.00 plus however much you want to add to it and then you use that money for whatever you want just as you would a credit card.

A prepaid and parents giving you a card on their account is your only options until you are 18

  3. im 16, and ive had a credit card for almost a year now, but its under my dad's account, like it has my name on it but the bill goes directly to my dad. its an american express. i think you just need your parents to get you a credit card under their account if your under 18. and im pretty sure it can be visa, discover, american express etc.
