A question about upgrading breaks on a cruiser has me wondering if they can even be done on such a bike? I have never seen one, although I still get amazed seeing a dresser pulling a wheelie. I also wonder if it can be done due to the rake?

  1. There are several cruisers with really good dual front disc brakes. Doing a stoppie would be difficult due to the weight. I'm sure there is someone out there doing it though. Yeah the first time I saw someone pull a huge wheelie on a Harley bagger I was pretty impressed too.

  2. When I took my motorcycle safety course one of the participants accidently done a stoppie or endo while practicing the emergency braking. But of course we were riding little 250cc bikes so there wasn't a lot of weight like you find with most cruisers. I think if you upgrade the brakes for the purpose of stoppies you will just be wasting your money. Most likely on a larger cruiser the front wheel will lock and slide (very dangerous) before the rear lifts off the ground.

  3. no. for the same reason a car wont do a stoppie, their too long & the weights too far back. the only way would be to set up  forward on the tank or stand up to raise the center of gravity like on a sport bike.

you can easily lock the front wheel but you will be laying on the ground shortly after you do.

  4. Wheelie yes, Stoppie- upper arm strength, you're balancing the bikes weight with your arms- how much can you bench press in a pinch?

  5. To heavy, most cruiser riders woundn't try it anyway, not trying to impress anyone.

  6. and I thought squids only rode sport bikes

  7. A proper cruiser has a very long wheelbase, lots of weight, and lots of rake in the front end. All these things combined would make it extremely hard if not impossible to do a stoppie. The front wheel will skid first. I've tried a few times. Had lots of front wheel skid even when I threw my weight forward.

  8. 450 LTD Kawasaki can........   have a car do a U turn in front of you & grab a handfull of brake......

Its all to do with how much grip the front tyre has...

so if you want to do them,,,  buy a good tyre..

would worry about the fork tubes snapping if you do them often..?????
