  1. theres nothing wrong using it as long as its not plugged in. dont charge it while thunderstorm is going on. only use wireless internet. Oh and it really depends on how bad the wheather is. if its really bad it wouldnt be safe

  2. Actually yes.

Lightning is a series of electrical current traveling (more or less) from clouds to the ground.  It seeks the least resistant path to ground. (Well mostly).

A laptop ionises some of the air that surrounds it.  Which means that if there isn't anything else around that is a better conductor, you may find yourself to be the conductor.

  3. not 2 u.

  4. NO!

    i doubt it.

  5. Not unless you're sitting outside....  Even plugged in, you should be safe, especially if you use a surge protector.  (Which you should be using, anyway...)

  6. nope

  7. There shouldn't be a problem if it isn't plugged in to the wall.

  8. If your not connected to the internet at the time youll be ok. If you are, even wirelessly its possible that the interferance from being struck could fry your modem. It happened to me one year i lost 2 phones 2 pcs and almost my big tv. But there were all connected into the phone socket. My advice, in a thunderstorm. Unplug and shutdown. But thats just me!

  9. How could there be if its UNPLUGGED!

  10. nope, as long as its not plugged in, nothing bad can happen

  11. Batteries no I Do not see a problem. Congratulations on the Kansas Jayhawks .

  12. NO. Power surge comes from DC current!!

  13. You aren't in any danger whether it's plugged into the wall or not.

  14. If it is unplugged it'll be fine, unless of course it happens to be the thing the lightning hits...If it is plugged in, possibly.  I'm not so sure that the lightning would make it past the transformer part of the ac/dc adapter, but it could.  If it did, you're computer would be no more...

  15. If you are using it while walking in the rain, or for an umbrella while its raining, while it is running, you could possibly have a plausible problem. What were you using it as again?

  16. If you are outside, yes.

If you are inside, I am unsure.

One time, it was storming and the power went out several times. There was a tornado watch. Our unplugged PDA kept on pinging whenever the power went out. If I were you, I would keep away from any outlets, and only use the laptop if needed. There was one person above me who said why you shouldn't. I ditto them.

Personally I think you should be off now.

By chance, do you happen to live in Texas? I heard there were tornado warnings there.

  17. its only a problem if its plugged into the mains as if its wireless in a thunder storm how will it be affected

  18. umm there is no problem even IF it is plugged into a wall... unplugged: well you are not connected to anything, so nothing CAN happen

plugged:  if the power went out, it would just stop charging and run off of the internal power
