  1. How dare you slag off the mighty Yahoo, prepare to be permanently eradicated from their sites :-)

  2. I highly recommend Wordpress! It doesn't belong to any big company, it's just a lot of dedicated users who believe in Open Source. The support is excellent and the Wordpress Community is growing rapidly. Check it out:

  3. There are two levels to consider here...

    1) Other blogging sites. That could be everything from social networks that let you blog (and are similar to Yahoo 360 in that respect)... MySpace and Friendster for example, or perhaps StumbleUpon if you like to blog about websites. Then there are Blogger, BlogSpot, and WordPress.

    2) Get a web hosting account (paid, or free with no ads) and install blogging software, the best of which is open-source and free... Drupal, Joomla, or WordPress. Drupal being the one with the most power and options, but also a learning curve and a bit intimidating for some because there are SO many options and possibilities. WordPress if you want something that's easy to jump in and use, especially if you're already used to blogging.

I'd definitely go for option 2... it gives you more freedom in the sort of add-in functions and themes available. For instance, not a lot of blogging sites would let you add scripts to your posts (for security reasons). If the blogging software is on YOUR server, you can do what you want. For example, have embedded Flash for playing voice-overs or music, or installing serious tracking software like Google Analytics (also free).

Here's a free web host that has no ads, along with a step-by-step guide to getting WordPress up and running...

  4. I'm waiting for the replacement for 360 coming soon reportedly.
