I attend an event every year comprising of around 8 hours worth of presentations which are broadcast simultaneously on FM radio. In the past I have recorded these using tapes (the old way!) but having to change tapes half way through an item isn't helpful and means bits get missed.

Is there a device that can receive the FM signal and record the audio directly to an audio file (e.g. mp3, wav etc)?

  1. You can use one of the more recent MP4 players. This one will record from DAB or FM or internal mic or external line-in /microphone. And it all fits into your shirt pocket.

The trouble is that for 8 hours you are going to have to keep it plugged into a USB port because the battery may not last that long.

  2. All you need is an FM radio with a headphone socket, connect this to the line in on your computer & use any free software you like to record it.

  3. Yes, you can get a USB radio like this one that will let you save radio broadcasts.

    Edit:

    >Recording directly to the computer would be a brilliant solution but I need a portable device! I cant trail my PC or laptop into a football stadium!

Ah, then you need one of these...
