  1. motorcross helemets are heavy and are cuffy in the inside.

  2. Yes there is a difference. Motocross helmets are heavier but are stronger. You should wear a full face motocross helmet when riding.

  3. I think you would find that if you tried to race motocross with a bmx helmet that you would not be allowed to.  Things do differ from place to place but I know where I am the manual of motosport which is the code for racing, states that a properly approved helmet for motocross is required to be used for racing.

The BMX helmets are lighter than a Motocross helmet and you want the correct protection when racing, so it would be wise to get one recommended for mx.

  4. mx=full face      BMX=half

  5. As Auburn and Kato state, there is difference.

The biggest been strentgh. Yes a BMX helmet is strong, but nothing like the MX helmet.

In the UK all helmets must pass BSA95 or the new ERO98 standard.

This is very much the same as the U.S testing called Snell95.

If your MX helmet does have these marking, then dont use it. Also, dont buy second hand, even if you know the owner or the helmets hstory. The padding moulds its self to each head, making it a better fit.

    Hope this helps.

  6. bmx helmets usualy are made from a lighter meterial and the good ones are carbon fiber. definatley get a new helmet.

  7. Yes they are different, do not use the BMX helmet for motocross.
