  1. as an architect, I use the term ecological architecture as that relationship between an aesthetic life of its inhabitants to a biological system.  an example is a living machine, where the intake and waste of a building form a cycle using environmental processes.  also, one can create a building and garden to sustain agricultural production or cultural vivaciousness.  one can use both living machines and permaculture together.

green architecture relates to the physical building and its use or any way in which it even remotely "relates" to the environment.  an office building can be green if its designers even bother to think about the consequences of using certain materials, building close to mass transport, or simply conserving energy.
