Is there a difference between Internet Explorer and Fire Fox???

Question

Hi. I am taking school online and the software keeps asking me to download the internet software called Fire Fox.

I am using a Compaq Laptop computer. My main internet software is Internet Explorer.

My question(s) are:

1. Is there a difference between Internet Explorer and FireFox.

2. What can FireFox do that Internet Explorer cant????

My school software works fine on Internet Explorer, but it still keeps asking me to download FireFox.

IE is big, heavy, bloated, slow, rigid

FF is small, efficient, fast, flexible

Basically Firefox loads pages faster, and theres more you can do with it.

firefox has better programming and it always works

your school seems to prefer it for those reasons

There's a difference of course.. some people like firefox better they say it runs faster. The difference is layouts (like on myspace) can look differently on firefox than they will on internet explorer and for somethings you can use only internet explorer.. in my opinion it's just best to have both..

Fire for is faster that Internet Explorer But some things want work w Firefox Like videos on you tube.

Aside from those differences:

Firefox is pretty W3C-compliant.  That means that a web page designed according to the web standards will look pretty much like what it's supposed to in Firefox.  (Opera is even more compliant, but Firefox is more useful.)

IE is VERY non-compliant.  Microsoft does things their way - which is usually not the standard way - so web pages not written to take IE into account look or work wrong.

And Firefox has a lot of add-ins that make browsing (and web development) nicer and easier.  Most developers don't care about IE, so it's going to be a while until IE has anything but eye candy.  (Anyone who prefers debugging with IE's debugger is a m*******t.)
