  1. NO difference, one name is short for the other.....

  2. the difference is the lapis is a noun-(A medium to dark blue),and lapis lazuli  is a gemstone;a -semi-precious stone prized since antiquity for its intense blue colour-,however

lapis is the  Short for lapis lazuli

  3. yeah lapis is pencil while lapiz lazuli is aname of blue stone!

  4. Lapis lazuli is actually a rock, rather than a gem. It consists of lazurite, with carious quantities of calcite, pyrite, and other feldspathoids of the sodalite group, such as hauyne and nosean.

The word "azure" comes from the same root as lazuli. Lapis translates as stone, and lapis lazuli thus translates as "blue stone", although it now means something more specific.

There's no difference between Lapis and Lapis Lazuli; the former is simply a short form, such as calling Norman "Norm". You could refer to a "Lapis Ferrari" meaning the car is the color of the stone, just as you refer to an "Ivory Ferrari" meaning a car of another color, but in any case, it means the same thing, whether it's short form or long.
