Question:

Is there a difference between a $50 Li-ion battery and a $150 Li-ion battery? Isn't a battery just a battery?

I want to purchase a rechargeable Li-ion for my XHA1 (love it!). Was wondering if the non-name brand is just as good as the Canon brand battery? Could there be any difference besides the name itself? As long as the voltage and Mah are the same, I should be ok, right? Thanks everyone.

  1. The 150 dollar Li-ON Batter Is More Reliable Than The 50 dollar Battery

  2. always stick with the manufacturers battery unless it is no longer available.those other batteries are kind of a one size fits all type, you will find on those batts that there are different connection options for other cams, also the life span is optimized for your cam from original manufacturer! get the canon replacement !!!! POPO,,,

  3. usually the cheaper ones will be a little bulkier and have shorter lifespans. A $100 price gap can't all be chalked up to the name.

  4. it might be a capacity issue. cheaper batteries may last around a hour continuous shooting where a more expensive one will be double or even tripled.

  5. The El Cheapo AAA and the Duracell AAA have the same voltage, too, but which one is going to last?  There's an old saying, and it's true more often than not: The cheap becomes expensive.
