  1. Sedan is a car with four seats and four doors.  A car can be a sedan or a coupe (with only two seats and two doors).

SUV is a sports utility vehicle and, in some states is categorized as a car, but it is really a truck.

The terms "car" and "sedan" are used interchangeably by most people.

  2. A sedan is an automobile with a lot of room in the back seat.  It could be a 2 door or a four door (all four door cars are sedans).  A coupe is always a 2 door, and it has a more cramped back seat area, and sometimes no back seat at all.  In the 1950's nearly all the convertibles were considered "convertible coupes".  A 2 door with no back area at all behind the front seats, such as a Mazda Miata, is called a roadster.  SUV's are neither sedans nor coupes.

  3. It's a passenger car with two rows of seats....

  4. A sedan is a type of car, it's a four door car, where as a coupe is a two door model.
