Is there a difference between a named sd memory card or a cheaper one?

I'm looking to buy a memory card but wondered if the quality of picture would be different to buy cheaper one with no name

  1. The picture quality won't be affected by an inexpensive generic memory card. The cheap card might be slower -- take longer to store data -- so that your camera might not function quite as fast as it could, although if you have an inexpensive point-and-shoot, even that probably doesn't matter.

    You should be fine with the cheaper card.


  2. I wouldn't take a chance with a no name card.  You have no idea who makes it or the quality.   Cards aren't that expensive anyway, so why use a card you aren't sure of?   Pictures are important to me, so I want to be sure I have a card that will work properly.
