  1. johnny u r retarded lol

do you even know how to play football?

the first guys answer is right

strong side is the tight end side

  2. The strength call pertains to the side of the football with the strongest point of attack.

TRUE: in a balanced offense this is traditionally the side with the SINGLE Tight End. However, today there are formations that includes two tightends, no tightends, or even a tightend but two backs on one side of the QB.

SO, the strength call is by blocking scheme to the strongest point of attack (in the traditional method with one tight end, this tight end, plus a tackle, pus the guard leave 3 men in the blocking scheme and only two on the opposite side).

Strong side linebacker, known as the "Sam" linebacker was typically on the left side of the football as this was the traditional placement for a tightend...but things change...and so does football.

Now Sam lines up on the strong side ORRR outside linebackers learn to play strong and weak (known as "Will").

The players official position will always be "just" Linebacker. But his alignment identification can be as "the strong side linebacker".

  3. the linebacker is just the general term or name for the linebacker, while the strong side linebacker is more specific as to where he lines up. In a defense there is a strong linebacker called a sam, a middle linebacker called a mike, and a weakside linebacker called a will.

  4. The Strong side line backer lines opposite the the offenses strong side.

That is, if they have more guys left of center, he is on the left, if they have more guys right of center he lines up right.

If you have a guy bragging he is the strong side line backer, he is claiming he fights off more blockers than the other Line Backer.  Ask him if the TE goes in motion, does he change sides of the field?

He is a Right or Left Outside Line backer.  Sure, he may "flip" if facing a left handed team.  If they start changing back and forth during the game, or motioning away from him, unless he is a Monster Back he holds his side.

Oh, if he is a Monster Back, he probably would say that.  It sounds cool.:)

  5. The Strong side Linebacker is usually stronger (just like the Strong safety), and more bulky.  Look at Lance Briggs.  The weak side is usually smaller but quick to pass cover the slot reciever or to blast around the weak (usually blind side) of the QB.  The Ideal weakside Linebacker was Lavar Arrington in his prime.
