I was pulled over last night and was told that I have no valid license but if it was suspended I would be "taking a ride with him", so I am confused to what is going on. Any knowledge on this subject would be great....also it's the State of Georgia. Thanks

  1. Your license might be invalid because you need to get it renewed. Has it been 8 years since you've gotten it?

When your license gets suspended, it's usually because of a DUI or sometimes, you can get it suspended because of something you like had to go to court for, or got in trouble with the law for, or even something that happened at your work or school, depending on your age.

So, if your license was suspended, then you'd get in major trouble, because the point of it being suspended is sort of like a time out for violating the law; you can't drive for a certain amount of time, until it's been long enough for you to learn your lesson from it.

  2. Yes, 'no valid license' means you don't have a license, usually meaning that either you never had a license or it has expired.

Suspended license means you have a license but your right to drive has been suspended.

  3. There is a difference-

    - "No valid" = You were never issued one, it has expired, or it has been revoked.

    - "Suspended" = You have a valid license, it's just been taken away temporarily. Suspensions that go longer than the expiration date will prevent you from renewing it until after the suspension ends.

Either of them above can result in a citation or arrest.

  4. Being suspended means that you have already had legal problems as far as driving. You would also know that your license was suspended and just be ignoring the law. Makes them mad when you do this.

  5. Driving on a suspended license will get you thrown in jail and your car towed to impound.  No valid license is a mush lessor offense, but they can still tow you car if the decide to do so.
