Just as the question asks.

lol, i bought 2 JL Audio 12" woofers and my dads making me sell them tog et cheaper ones, saying that all subwoofers will sound and be the same and work the same ......to me thats 100% bull, and i want to confirm it. If I compared my JL subwoofer at lets say 75 watts, with 125 RMS to another brand with the same wattage, would the be a big difference?

Because i will not be abusing them, i just want to have more bass in my car.

Also, how could i convince him that the sub is way better than any other cheap brand out there, and keep in mind that hes an electronics engineer,,,,,so he has that mentality....

P.S.

I am selling one of the JL subs right now for $80 shipped, OBO, lol, just email me at pierson.seneca@gmail.com if iterested..... :D

  1. All subs are not created equal. You do get what you pay for. ive heard cheap subs that are made from paper and foam and well they sound like c**p compared to a sub made from rubber and plastic or metal. The JL subs are a good sub if at all possible i would keep those.

  2. If he is an EE then he should know that not all speakers are built the same.  They will have different electronic and mechanical properties from one another (T/S parameters).  They will also be built out of different materials which can greatly effect the sound.

Tube subs are not usually any good.  Especially if you are looking for sound quality.  If you are looking at sound quality then JL is definetly a good brand to buy from.  Boston Acoustics and Polk Audio have some good SQ as well so you could look at them as well if you need something cheaper.

    Good Luck!!!

  3. A good rule to remember  you get what you pay or. If you want entry level  sound buy entry level speakers.
