Is there a difference between corny and cheesy?

In the past everyone used the former, nowadays people seem to use cheesy for pretty much the same thing. Why did it change? Is cheesy just another americanism we have adopted?

  1. Just a personal opinion, but I would be more inclined to take "Corny" as having a negative implication, whereas cheesy can express a sort of affection (i.e. "That's so cheesy, it's brilliant!!)

But someone else might have a different appreciation because of how they have always used the words.

It's interesting that people can have slightly different views on the meaning of words - even when those words are really very similar in their general sense.

  2. Please shutup plz. Thanks.

    Who cares.

    They mean the same thing.

    They are both food products.

  3. nope. they mean the same thing. when something is really sappy or is such a cliche :P

  4. To me....Corny means you roll our eyes and laugh.  Cheesy means you shake your head in disgust, shudder, and want a shower.

  5. Nope. Same meaning.

  6. Corny is like a wheat based cliche, whereas cheesy is dairy based.  Except when it's American cheese, which has all the dairy processed out of it - in which case, it's a tasteless rubber cliche.

  7. The only small distinction you could possibly make is that you would possibly be more likely to call a person or their behaviour "cheesy", and you would be more likely to call something inanimate (eg. a tv show, or a greeting card) "corny"

  8. spelling?LOL...no,its almost the same thing..means same..

  9. Corny - slightly amusing

    Cheesey - toe curling nice
