Is there a difference between different countries' sign languages?

For example would their be a difference between american and british sign language or is it just all global kind of thing?

  1. I've wondered that, too.  I know it's called "American" sign language so maybe it's different.

  3. There are MANY different types of Sign Language. American Sign Language is only the tip of the iceberg.

    Africa has at least 25, the Americas (North and South America) 27, Asia/Pacific at least 34, Europe at least 38, and at least 13 in the Middle East.

    I believe Wikipedia will have a full list of the different types if you are interested.
