  1. mythology- .  myths collectively; the body of stories associated with a culture or institution or person  

    folklore- The traditional beliefs, myths, tales, and practices of a people, transmitted orally.

    Those are the definitions form dictionary.com. I always thought that mythology was  older, death with gods and mythological creatures.I always thought folklore to be  more recent just little stories here and there.


  2. Mythology dates way back.  Folklore is basically folk knowledge like:  Everyone knows that house is haunted, but is it?

  3. Mythology is basically ancient organized beliefs or religion. It is about gods and heros.

    Folklore is usually non-organized stories.

    There is of course some overlap.
