Shouldn't a boat float in either? Would a salt water yacht not work for some reason in fresh water?

  1. salt water boats are maintained differently than fresh due to the ill effects of salt- anti fouling paint, anode bars, and engine flushing to name a few.  salt water boats build up with barnacles which plug water intake passages and create drag on the hull of the boat.

  2. it doesnt matter to the boat what water its in but i does matter to the owner

  3. Boats will float as easily in salty or fresh water, but precautions have to be taken for some engine fittings for use in salt water.
