The M1000DAV is pretty cheap compared to the HD version. What's the dfference? The DAV looks different than the M series on the monster website.

  1. I'm not joking - Monster Cable is overpriced junk.  Go to somewhere like monoprice.com to get your cables.  I have a 5 thousand dollar audio system connected to a 3 thousand dollar HDTV and all my cables are from monoprice.  Put your money where it counts.

  2. Yup ... how much money you would be throwing away if you bought either!

Monster cables are how electronics salepeople make their living. markup is obscene and you ... the consumer .. get hosed.

See the article at the link re comparison of budget HDMI to Monster cables  and why, for normal use, you only need a budget cable. Also see the link to a CBC Marketplace lab test of a $12 vs $260 HDMI cable that couldn't tell ANY difference.

For analog cables quality can make more of a difference, but you would be advised to look at Monoprice.com or Bluejeanscables.com for budget and high quality cables respectively ... and still save a bundle relative to Monster.

Easily impressed, gullible people buy Monster ... smart consumers buy elsewhere. Monster is the Bose of the cable world (except unlike Bose their stuff isn't c**p, just highly overpriced).

The last link is to the Blue Jeans Cables HDMI centre ... but there is a mass of info on this site about cables and what characteristics matter.
