Is there a difference between the "Mayan Ruins" and "the famous ruins in Tulum" or are they one and the same?

Mayan ruins is a general term, while Tulum is the name of an actual place, which is nearby Cancun.  There are more archaeological places from the Maya culture than you can possibly imagine, including Chichen Itza, which is now one of the "New 7 wonders of the world" . The "Mayan ruins" are spread in southern Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Belize.

  3. Check out the Chichen Itza ruins - Tulum is sort of lame.  There are many mayan ruins and Tulum is one small site - the locals look on it as a tourist trap.

  4. I don't recommend Tulum. It's not that big, and the tour is pretty boring.
