i need to read this book before school starts but i dont know which one is the right one because they have a different number of pages but the same author????

Does your class overview specify a particular edition?

If not either should be fine to give you the important aspects of the story.

Another idea might be to go to a public library and check out the copy that they have.  Once class starts you may ask your teacher if there are any significant differences you should be aware of before you reread it for class.
