Is there a difference between using regular RCA cables and real YPbPr analog component video cables?

I have tried using plain RCA cables to connect my DVR to my monitor via a progressive YPbPr analog component video. While it works, I was wondering if I would see any difference with a "real" componment video cable instead of the RCA cables that came with the device.

Higher quality cables give a few advantages that you may or may not be able to notice with your eyes.

1)  They usually have better shielding, meaning that outside interference cannot get in, and that the cables will not leak signal out, potentially interfering with radio receivers.

2) They typically have lower loss at higher frequencies, which for video means sharper edges on images.

3) Their impedance is controlled more carefully, which can reduce signal ringing.  Signal ringing on video will make the edges of objects look strange and somewhat discolored.

That said, as long as the cables aren't very long, and the picture looks good now, I wouldn't bother getting the expensive stuff.
