Is there a different between saying Oops or Whoops?

i think that different people use them differently, i sometimes say oops, and sometimes whoops, but i usually say oops without thinking, and whoops purposefully

I use oops when I have made a mistake, I use whoops when someone else stumbles.

Whoops is an exclamation as in when you fall over or have some other kind of accident and ooops is a mistake....like one this spell check has just informed me of.
