If I miss a single meal I get really sick and it's only been recently. I'm 17 5'11" and 165 pounds. I'm not over weight. I don't binge eat. I don't have an eating disorder. I went back to school and I stopped eating like I did over the summer. I got really really sick to my stomach and I was throwing up and I felt nausea for like 2 days. Is there such a disorder that I would be sick if I didn't eat? Or is this human?

  1. I could be wrong, but my first impression is that your blood sugar fell so low from not eating that it made you feel bad. You may want to look up the symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and see if you are also having any of the other symptoms. If you are, you may want to check with a doctor, because it's not something to play around with.

One remedy is to eat a little something every couple of hours between meals to keep your blood sugar from falling. Even if it's an ounce of cheese, a small handful of nuts, a couple of crackers with nut butter, a celery stick stuffed with pimiento cheese, or half a boiled egg (all these have protein). It doesn't have to be much.

Of course, changes in your regular routine, like going back to school, can cause some physical upset for a while.

I hope you get feeling better.

  2. I think you should go and see your doctor as soon as you can.
