2001-Stephanie McMahon hooks up with HHH, taking him away from Chyna--while HHH and Chyna were living together--Chyna thought she would marry him; Chyna gets bounced from WWF--loses job, career, boyfriend and has never quite recovered psychologically

HHH and Steph get no heat from the fans.

Fast forward to 2005:

Lita cheats on Matt Hardy and dumps him for Edge; Lita gets called every foul name in the book by "fans" and announcers--hounded out of wrestling; gets humiliated in her last match.

GEE! Guess there is no double standard here!

THANK YOU! I've been wondering the same thing! Maybe they did get boo but they edited it off t.v? I mean stephanie is the daughter of vince and something like that he would take care of. I mean they called steph ho and other things but just playing around but who knows maybe they(wrestlers and fans) meant it because how she got with triple h.

ehhh..I'd say you actually have a good point there.  I guess when your daddy's the boss, you can get away with some questionable moral decisions....or anything else you wanna get away with....

There is no double-standard.

It's hard to know what events led to these things behind the scenes. If Chyna lost her man, so what? She shouldn't allow that to interfere with her success.

Matt Hardy has pretty much been enduring "baby-face" in the WWE, despite a tiny heel run. For the fans, seeing Lita abruptly cheat with Edge would be booed, kayfabe or reality. Matt Hardy would have naturally caught the "face" heat, while Lita & Edge caught the "heel" heat.

What Lita & Stephanie did are two different issues. Stephanie had power and influence. Lita did not.

Although I see your point, this is not generally always true.  Many wresling fans I know don't exactly like HHH because Steph kept the gold on her husband when many backstage wanted it on Jeff.  Not to take the credit away from HHH, but many times, either he or Steph pulled strings backstage in order for him to have that impressive 12-time title run.

Yeah, HHH is still considered a "good guy" but not to everybody.

PS. I still don't like what Amy did to Matt, especially seeing how her and Adam ended after she retired.  Oh well, at least they're friends again.
