Is there a dress code for clubs in Australia?

Travelling to Aus later in the year, wondering what the dress code is for clubs normally? Is ther a dress code for pubs also? Can you wear trainers in clubs there or are they all like strictly shoes? Thanks!

I've kicked it all over Australia - Perth, Melb, Syd, Sufers Paradise, Brisbane, Cairns.  You can get in with trainers.  Its really relaxed in OZ.  Peeps usually where nice jeans and a nice shirt.  The ladies are ready to go.

just dont wear rubber thongs, flip flops or whatever u wanna call them, the bouncers always look at ur feet, u wont get away with it, some fancy nightclubs might have a thing with mens shirts (having collars) i don't really know but the regular fun nightclubs just dont allow thongs or barefeet, **** u can wear a teletubbie costume and they wont look twice.

Let me first define a club. There are 2 types:

1. A night club

2. A rugby league club, bowing club or any other community based club that offers alcohol, meals and betting/gambling facilities.

If you're talking about a nightclub, then trainers are not permitted in capital cities. They are generally allowed in other cities though.

If you're talking about the other sort of club environment, then dress codes differ a little but it's generally no thongs, singlets or workmen's clothes after 6pm.

Trainers/joggers are perfectly acceptable. Some clubs also require that you have a collar on your shirt.

Yes, smart etc..

Most of days clubs don't allow sports footwear - then some days, some clubs don't allow collar shirts or sometimes they don't allow you to come in without a collar shirt... Can't know but you can always find one that you can fit in.

Girls are always OK to go in... it is more about boys dress code... collar or not collar shirt, sports shoes or not
