Is there a end of space?

Is there a end of space? I mean, Whats at the edge? Is it like a giant planet, where it is a round ball, so saying there is a end would only be going around once? Its really confusing me, because then space would have to be unlimited, but being that, thats logically impossible. Gahhhhh, confusing :S

  1. depends on who you ask some say yes, some no, some say it curves back on it self.

the visible universe is 13.5 billion light years across as measured by the mmap satellite probe, that is everything created in the big bang

  2. No.  There is no edge of the universe. All space is occupied by galaxies and stars the same as here. Go to a planet 9,999,000 light years away and look at the sky. You will see about as many stars in the sky as you do here.

The word "universe" implies only one of its kind. There is only one universe.

  3. The universe is constantly expanding so, now, there is still not an end of a universe. If the universe is like a giant planet, what is beyond it? Nothing? Nah i dun think so. So u can say the universe is infinte but not forever as there will be an end sooner or later.

  4. Yeah

  5. no limitation for the space because the the following reasons:-

1- Man kind have no knowledge yet to determine exactly if there is end or not .

2- all theorems agree with the opinion the space is expanding .

3- no one Reilly know the end of space except the God.

  6. To understand, you have to think outside the box!

You see the universe as you see something on earth. This is not possible according to Relativity. Consider this:

If you make a drawing of the universe, you use an absolute reference, e.g. the lower left corner of your sheet of paper. But the first principle of Relativity says that there is no absolute reference in the universe; everything is seen as the observer's frame of time and space.

Wherever you are in the universe, you observe it as if you are at its center. That's why Hubble observed that all galaxies are moving away from us at the same rate. This is also the reason the Cosmic Microwave Background is observed coming from all direction, as if the Big Bang is not a point in space but a sphere around us. Strange, isn't it?

Now, imagine that you are a fish in the ocean, half way between America and Europe. Then imagine that all the continents are gone; there is only one big ocean. Would you still be in the 'middle' of it? Yes, you could say that. But then, anywhere in the ocean, you would be in the middle of it and even if you swim all your life, you will never come to the 'edge' of it. Does it make sense?

That's why your question can't be answered: There is no 'center,' no 'edge' nor 'outside' the universe. That is because - as I said - we can only observe it from our own frame of observation. If you travel, you will travel in both space and time since you can't exceed the speed of light.

  7. universe goes forever, accept that, so there would be no edge. if there was, beyond that would be too complex for us humans to ever understand

  8. i dunno for sure...  myabe there is a such thing a nothing out there, at the edge, there is nothing, no time, no space, just.... nothing...

    scary thought

  9. here. the universe is expanding but in the form of a sphere. so ur thinking is correct, no matter how straight our rockets fly we are actually going rounds and the end will onli mean the beginning again. also, the universe is constantly expanding due to the heat energy from the Big Bang, which is proven by 2 guys whom i cant remember their names. they have this big device that is supposed to have another usage, but it ended up picking static sounds, and oit was later found out that it is caused by the heat from Big Bang.

Heres some things i got also from my source, on cosmology.

Space is vacuum, and vacuum is nothing, no matter no watever, but if space is nothing, wad is beyond the universe, and what is the universe expanding into? into nothing?? that wont make any sense at all. Also if there is "nothing nothing" outside our universe, is is possible that there is another universe in this world?

Also, wad happens if the universe starts to lose heat? in my opinion, when the universe starts to lose heat and stop expanding, it will start contracting, pulling everything back from the giant sphere to that tiny point and this super dense ball that is contraining everything in this world will give way once more and cause a second universe.

and this also makes u think, was there a universe BEFORE us? and did the contracting thing happen before and this is the universe that the dense ball haqs exploded into?

    Cosmology is fun.

  10. Yes, there is an end to space.

With the new technology that we have put into space, like the Hubble telescope, we have learned more about space than we ever have known before.

Scientists now have pictures of what our entire known universe looks like.  It is a large Nearly Round Object, and it has a definite boundary to it.

It made me think of the theory that we are all in a glass snow globe in a laboratory somewhere.  I don't think that is the case, but it is an interesting thought.

    Good Luck

  11. I think they say space is constantly expanding, i really don't think anyone could possibly explain it.

  12. Lets just say if there is, we haven't found it yet.
