Is there a family connection between John Hancock and Levi W. Hancock?

  1. There is a genelogy section under Arts I believe.  If you are doing family research you might check out the Mormon websites they are big into it.  My brother is a Mormon and has gotten a lot of interesting info about my family.  Good Luck.


  2. No,I dont think so. Levi W.Hancock is an early convert to Mormonism and was a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for nearly fifty years. He was born in (April 7, 1803–June 10, 1882).

    In 1844, Hancock became a member of the Council of Fifty, and in 1846 joined the Mormon Battalion. In 1847, Hancock traveled with the Mormon pioneers to the Salt Lake Valley. In Utah Territory, he became a member of the 1st Utah Territorial Legislature. He served a full time mission for the church attempting to grow cotton in southern Utah. Hancock helped settle Washington, Utah, and was ordained a church patriarch in 1872. He died at Washington, Utah.

    While John Hancock is President of the Second Continental Congress and of the Congress of the Confederation, the first Governor of Massachusetts, and the first person to sign the United States Declaration of Independence.He was born in (January 12, 1737 (O.S.) – October 8, 1793 (N.S.)
