Is there a ferry from east Florida to the Bahamas?

I'm looking for a way to go from Florida to the Bahams by boat...Something that I can buy a ticket for that takes me to the Bahamas where I plan on staying for a few days then returning back to Florida.

P.S. I'm aware of the Discovery Cruise but that's not quite what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance

  1. Besides cruising, the only other way to get to the Bahamas is to fly or charter a boat. No ferries at this time.

    Good Luck)

  2. No sorry

  3. There was a ferry that ran from Port of Lauderdale to Nassau, but I don't know if it's still running or not.  Check with the Harbor Master at Port of Lauderdale.

  4. They're aren't any ferries, but you could charter a boat, (have someone take you), or rent a boat and go there yourself. Sorry, I was wondering about this myself a while ago and then after doing a lot of calling and researching, there are no ferries. But you should check out chartering, it's kind of expensive but if you really want to go it's worth it, I did. I paid $850 to have a company take me there in one of their sail boats. Call the various boat and charter companies in Florida there are a few of them that will take you there, including the U.S. Virgin Islands, a thousand miles away from Florida. No passport is needed for the USVI if you are an American citizen because the USVI is a United States Territory. The Bahamas you will need a passport.
