Is there a heavyweight in history that would have been able to beat Ali in his prime years. My best Guess is Holmes because of his ability to box just as well even though he laked the foot work of ali. can you think of anybody else?

  1. The only 2 fighters i would give a slight chance would be Joe Louis and Larry Holmes. Joe Louis had hand speed but lacked foot speed but had also 1 punch power and pinpoint accuracy. Holmes was adaptable he could fight brawlers or boxers. Anyone else not a chance.

  2. ali in his prime was unbeatable.

over rated mike tyson wouldnt beat him

  3. Ali was a cheat and a farce, he robbed all the great fighters of their titles with loose ropes torn gloves phantom punchers and his apponents taking dives for money.and his skills may have been great back in the day but its nothing any good boxer of today can't do and as for speed there is many boxers who can throw more punches per minute than Ali, and his power was nothing in pounds of pressure compared to even Evander Holyfield who was a tiny heavy weight by rescent fighters so how he would do with some one like Tyson or Lennox Lewis kind of power, and no cheating he would get destroyed and fast, its like people say Georgie Best is better than ronaldo, come on wake up make your own opinion don't listen to old tales its easy to look good when its in the script Alis fights were fixe. every one knows that but still call him the greatest people choose to ignore the facts and believe what they want ?well what can i sa, that  why he got away with it its your fault i blame you   and i no wer you live  LOL

  4. Mike Tyson may have given Ali some tough rounds early on, but Ali's chin would hold up and he would wear Tyson down and stop him late or pound out a unanimous decision.

Holmes Vs Prime Ali probably would have dropped a decision to Ali as well. Holmes knew Ali inside and out being his sparring partner so he would give Ali h**l but i think Ali would have out smarted out schooled him over the distance.

Lennox Lewis might pose some scary moments for him but I think Lewis would tire and Ali would get him late.

The Liston fights at least the first one was not set up in anyway, Liston actually blinded Ali for a round and hit Ali with a shots that you dont hit a guy with if your trying to throw a fight, and Ali wanted to quit after he couldnt see. He beat Liston up over 7 rounds and made him quit.

The second fight was not set up eaither, Liston took a good shot, went down and said **** it, he took his payday without getting hurt.

  5. You know I would love to say this guy could beat Ali or that guy could but we have so much film on Ali beating all these different type of fighters. If you want to make comparisons here are a few Mike Tyson Joe Frazier Ernie Shavers Lennox Lewis Ernie Terrell Evader Holyfield , Floyd Patterson there is  no comparison to Sunny Liston maybe Joe Louis what about Big George Forman and Larry Holmes could not cary Ali jock strap he was Ali sparring partner for years and let me tell you something they don,t bring you into camp to kick the champs *** every day so that tells you that Larry Holmes was no match for Ali in his hay days. There is a reason we call ALI the greatest because he was the only person in our life time who had a chance to take that crown was Mike Tyson and we all know what happen there

  6. 'Enrys 'Ammer dropped Cassius aka Ali for a long count, followed by a three minute interval between rounds, during which Ali's gloves were changed.

Henry Cooper should have won this fight, which took place at the Highbury Stadium,in June 1966 by a knockout.

Rocky Marciano in his heyday could well have beaten Ali,other contenders would be Joe Louis,Ingemar Johannsen and Bruce Woodcock.

Ali was a great sport,a real crowd pleaser, but not a great boxer.

  7. As good as a fighter I think Ali was, I really think Sonny Liston threw those fights.  Ali never even had him close to trouble, and then suddenly he was down both times.

Then he went to the mob and said he wouldn't do it again, and they murdered him.

  8. i put ali no 1 among the heavyweights, but that's not to say he wouldn't have been beaten in his prime.

it is possible some of the greats like johnson, louis, dempsey or marciano could've done it..........i don't believe so, but it is possible.

holmes was ali's sparring partner for a long time, yet a 37 year old ali still challenged him.

a prime ali would have been his master........another ali - terrell, if you will.

take nothing away from holmes, he was a great champion, just that ali was a class above.

  9. Larry Holmes was the only fighter ever to TKO Ali. Get your facts straight.

  10. Tyson may have but Ali was the best the world has ever seen...Holmes did fight Ali and lost to him...

  11. ED Z    said "many of today's boxers would have beaten Ali, today's athletes are twice as strong and fast as 30-40 years ago."

this guy knows boxing. i cannot believe ppl gave this man thumbs down. everybody who F*CKING thinks ali was a f*cking god, just got into my sport yesterday!!!!!!

  12. No way Holmes beats a healthy, prime Ali. Ali already had Parkinson's symptoms, and took Holmes to 11 rounds! Granted, Holmes probably didn't give his best, and he really beat up Ali, but that was by no means the Ali we remember.

    He really was "the Greatest".

  13. yes i think so but who i don't know maybe Tyson.. Holmes..

    Smoking Joe..Rocky M..J  Luis..

Id have to go with Ali is the best at boxing he had the lot skills speed footwork  Ringmanship.... But could be beat and as fast as he was he was not hard to hit so yes he could be beat...Id like to see him in with a big fella like lewis..you seen them fight so you know one punch can easy

end anyone who takes a shot the one that lands in the place of the jaw or temple that you can do nothing about. yes they all had a chance  any one of these but they would have to up there game to do so and get the win...

  14. the former soviet union did not allow russians to fight in the pros back than, but russians & cubans dominated the olympics in boxing from all time..so if russkies were allowed back than they wouldve dominated like they do today...the russkies are beasts in the heavy weight divison..its funny how today heavyweights are unpopular because there are no americans dominating...boxing is not all about america, but the fact of the matter is if the dominance is outside of american the b/s critics will say its a weak a generation...klitscho & valuev wouldve mopped up ali..

  15. bas rutten

    - 5th degree black belt in kayokochin

    - 2nd degree in tae kwondoe

    - ufc heavy weight undefeated champion

    - 3 time king of pancrease

    - submission expert

  16. I dont know why some people refer to ALI as though he was the greatest of all time???He lost 5 times!!! Rocky Marciano NEVER lost. He won 49 times in a row and then retired...43 were knockouts!!... ROCKY MARCIANO was the greatest EVER...period.

  17. Henry Cooper dropped Ali and would have stopped him if alis trainer Angelo Dundee didnt tear Ali Glove to give him time to recover. Ali was good but a long way from "The Greatest'.

  18. Lennox Loiuse!

  19. maybe rocky m.

two tun tonny or whoever might havetechnically sonny liston wasnt in his prime wen he lost and joe smokin frassier did get him once but ali just got outta jail

    and holyfeild might have him

  20. many of today's boxers would have beaten Ali, today's athletes are twice as strong and fast as 30-40 years ago.
