I was diagnosed 9 years ago with low platelets (in the 60,000 range). They have done all the tests and have not come to a reason why I have this. Anyway, is there a supplement or food that will raise my levels? Thanks.

  1. Yes the b 12 ,b6 frolic acid,or just a moult vitamin

  2. Not that I have ever heard of.

Low platelets is known as thrombocytopenia in doctor language.  The most common form is "idiopathic"...which is a fancy latin way of saying "cause unknown".

If you aren't ill, getting lots of infections, getting lots of easy bruising or bleeding then there is likely nothing to worry about.

The fact you have had this for 9 years, and never apparently been ill from it says a lot to me.

Most labs report the "normal" platelet count as ranging between 120,000-400,000.  so you can see there is a very wide range of what is considered "normal" range, for the purposes of lab tests.   60,000 may just represent an "outlier" statistically.  I have seen patients with far far lower counts than yours who had no symptoms at all

tell your friends you have Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia and impress them with your Latin vocabulary.

  3. I think B12 has the capability to raise blood levels. Not too sure though or if there is something that can do a better job,
