Question:

Is there a form of martial arts I could learn without having to take off my shoes and socks in the lessons?

Yeah but I want to wear my shoes. I have a thing about showing my feet.

  2. i had the same problem when i started taking tkd just dont trip on itif you start sparing no one will see them anyways lol just swallow your pride with it yo its no big deal go for the knowledge and technique its not a foot modeling class lol

  4. you know, they make a special kind of shoe that you can wear in karate

  5. if your in a real dojo trust me no one will be looking at your feet. also some of the more modern forms of martial arts train in plain clothes.

  7. Some schools allow students to have footwear but most don't.  You should just check with the schools in your area.

  8. For the most part, most Chinese Martial Arts train with shoes on.

  9. With a lot of martial arts you can buy special shoes to wear while training. They are more flexible then normal shoes with the right amount of grip. I have some for Taekwondo.

  11. Not really. Boxing and wrestling are the only two that spring to mind.

    I do Taekwondo and you can wear shoes, but it is not recommended. With kicking, it is very important that you get your feet in the right position and with shoes it is very hard for the instructor to judge that you are doing this correctly. For example, with front kicks you have to pull your toes back as you strike. If you are wearing shoes then this is not possible and there is a risk you may not bother. Therefore if you have to kick something without the shoes, then you may not pull back your toes and can end up breaking them.

    I imagine most of the other striking arts are the same.

  12. I think in Kajukenbo you can wear shoes.
