This is the one I use.

Measure the distance from the viewer to the screen in feet.  Multiply by 4.  That's the suggested size in inches.

So at a 12 foot viewing distance something around a 48 inch screen would be suggested.  Of course one could go bigger or smaller, this is just a ballpark number.

There is no correct size for a particular room. Just get one that you like and will fit where you want it.
