  1. I'm curious why you don't want them in the PS system through an online school.  You will be their main teacher, be in control of their daily schedule, etc.  You just have to agree to state standardized testing and some other rules.  You may want to attend an open house session just to check it out.

Anyway, you can mix and match free resources online, but there really are no "free ride", one-stop-shop web sites.

You can do a LOT using your public library.  There are literature reading lists all over the 'net.  There are even lesson plans.  There are math worksheet sites, phonics sites, grammar sites, history, geography, etc.  You just have to piece them together.

Since you didn't list grades or what style you're looking for, I can't help with specific sites.  If you update the Q, perhaps I can (and others also).

  2. Well my mom is in a homeschool program where they allot you $1000.00 per child to spend on school books and Extra activities your child might want to do like baseball or something. And you send in you're childs work for the school to look over. That goes on until the 7th grade then your child will do all of his/her work on the internet it will cost only $150.00 and that is a deposit for the laptop that they give you which you use until your child graduates. I am in the 9th grade now and Its actually pretty good. And you won't have to worry about your child getting distracted on the lap top the school provides because they block many sites like youtube, myspace, and all of the gaming sites. If you need to know more you could email me. Hope this helps you some. If not sorry.

  3. These are free. (and not ps. :-) Hope this helps.

  4. it is highly unlikely. if you intend to have your kids home schooled, it is similar to sending them to a private school, everything must be paid for. an Internet home school program wouldn't be paid by taxes, so i don't know anyone that would go through the trouble to try it.

  5. Homeschooling can be done for little to know money. That's right you can homeschool for free if your creative about it. Use your local library for books, eduactional programs, cd- roms, music, videos, etc. Check out used book stores for cheap educational and reading books. Shop on Ebay for used curriculum. Go on craigslist.com and look for free items or post what you are looking for. You can do the same on freecycle.org   Swap educational items with others homeschoolers you can meet in your area. Find groups through yahoo groups that are in your area. Go on field trips to banks, pet stores, grocery stores, bakeries, manufacturing plants, zoos, etc. There are tons of free printables online for your children to do at home. There are educational websites by the thousands that you can watch movies, play games, download free e-books, signup for freebies etc on. Like I said, you can do it for little to nothing and still get a great education. I have 4 kids and have been homeschooling for 6 years. We hardly spend anything on it. :)
