Question:

Is there a fuel filter on a 1997 jeep wrangler sport 4.0?

if so where is it located? also I am having problems with it, when it heats up to normal running temperature, it starts bucking an trying to stall, acting like its not getting fuel and I cant figure out why.

  1. My fuel filter on my 1994 wrangler is in the back under behind the alternator.  I think you are having a problem with the fuel pump though.  I had this same problem.  The fuel pump is in the gas tank, so it is a pain to change.  I had a mechanic do this.  Try running some fuel injector cleaner through it, and if this doesn't help, get the pump checked.  Good luck.

There is technically an external filter although it functions as the filter/pressure regulator and is very seldomly ever replaced, also there is a filter attached to the bottom of the pump in the gas tank that you have to buy the pump to get. The external filter/regulator is mounted on the top of the fuelpump outside the gas tank the part# is 4798301 $114 available within a day or two from your local dealership.
