Question:

Is there a function in yahoo groups allowing you to set an "auto reply" when people email the group?

for example, when someone mails the group mailing address can i set an auto reply from the group to say "thanks for using our group etc" or "this group has a new website at..."

  1. Sorry but that is not possible at this time.  I'm sure that if this feature were available, there would be so many groups using it that it would cause Yahoo email servers to become so overloaded that they would crash.

    If you want to send an announcement of the group's new website, you could post a new message directly on the group site and send it as a Special Notice.  Special Notices go to all members except those who have their email delivery set at "No Mail".  To do this, sign in to the group where you want to send the Special Notice to members.

    Click on Post.

    After you have entered the subject and text, scroll down near the bottom of page and click on the blank square in front of "Send this message as a Special Notice".

    Click Send.
