Avast works great.Update it for free.just give them a valid email address they will send you a key.Good for 1 year.Then you can also get Spyware terminator.It will watch your registry keys.

For Anti-Spyware, get AdAware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and possibly Spyware Blaster (not a scanner, but it has real-time protection.) For Anti-Virus you can get AVG Anti-Virus, Avast, or Avira AntiVir. Remember that you can only have one anti-virus or your computer might crash.
