I'm a bit of a messy guy what with the rat's nest of wires and cables behind and under my desk. Is there a good system of doing things that makes for a cleaner workspace? Shorter cables? Wireless wherever you can? And is there a good way to running cable so as not to damage it and to avoid interference if it exists in addition to having it look good and not restrain movement of gadgets? Right now I simply have cables wrapped around desk legs and strung as close to the underside of the desk as possible. I don't like that situation because I know I'm going to forget and rip apart cables if I move things around.

  1. There are wire clamps and cable ties that can make it neater. For instance you can make a loop on very long cable like putting away a garden hose and then use a tie to keep the loop in place.

Here is a site that specializes in cable management.  Maybe you can get some ideas from the site.

Companies also make retractable computer cables that allow movement when needed.
