  1. See if you can hook up with some vets in your area that don't have a groomer in house.  Leave business cards behind and offer to co-refer by taking their cards too.

Craigslist will let you list under services - not sure if it's 100% free.

Start a referral program for your current customers.  Offer to do a free/reduced price grooming for them if they send you a new customer.

  2. vistaprint.com has free business cards and postcards.

also do flyers, hook up with a walmart or walgreens ect. and do a "low cost" grooming day at their location and pass out your business card or flyers then. Give business cards or flyers out to vets with a discount coupon for their clients.

  3. There is a franchised advertising sheet up here in Canada that's called Coffee News that has cheap advertising.  When they have introductory pricing in my area it's like $180 for 13 insertions for an approx. 2"X3' block ad.  This paper gets distributed to all the coffee shops in our area, even some Macdonalds have carried them.  http://www.coffeenewsusa.com

  4. Congrats on your new biz.  My advice is to get a website if you don't already have one, with excellent hosting services.  I would also join your local chamber of commerce.  I networked at my chamber, and got many more clients that way... It's a fun group (in my city, anyway) and we meet about 1x a month.  Most chambers will help you with advertising, mailing, etc for a minimal (or no) cost...Best of luck to you!
