  1. Try

    connectionsacademy.com

    or

    http://www.homeschoolcentral.com/

  2. Many online charter schools are popping up all over. Many of them are now using k12 products. k12 schools are good for many reasons. Each student is given a placement test and then given individualized curriculum based on his or her individual needs. With the help of online charter schools today, homeschooling can be much easier than it used to be. They provide you with everything you need, a computer, a printer, books, supplies, and teachers that you can both email and call for help and assistance. This is free and there are no charges. Online schools are definitely becoming a way of the future for the children in generations to come.

Going to an online school is no different than going to a traditional public school or a private school. They graduate with a real diploma the same as any school. My son graduated from an online charter school and now attends a private university (University Of Dayton) with scholarships. They will also help you with making sure that all state required tests are done yearly and proficiencies are completed for graduation

If you choose not to use an online charter school, you can still home school. There are places that you can purchase curriculum from to make it easier. Most times, depending on where you live, there are policies where the board of education must approve the curriculum.

You also have to see to it that your child takes all proficiencies and state required testing on your own. For these reasons I prefer using an online charter school to help.

Here are some options of curriculum that you can purchase for homeschooling. Some online charter schools use them as well. I have used all of these so if you have any questions just let me know.

    BUY K-12 Products directly

    BUY Calvert Curriculum

BUY Alpha Omega Curriculum ( Christian Based Curriculum )

BUY Compass products ( online based curriculum )

BUY Time 4Learning ( online based curriculum that is affordable )

Of course you can even make up your own curriculum and use it. Some parents will go to the library to get reading materials or purchase books to teach from. The only bad thing about doing this is that you must make sure you are teaching everything that is needed for that school year. It can get confusing without some help. This is why I would always use an online charter school if possible and if not then I would definitely suggest purchasing materials targeted for home schoolers.

  3. Why not join a homeschool group online or off? Then you can talk to people about why they chose particular books, what they did or did not like.

You'll find books and support, maybe make some friends, too.

  4. http://homeschoolreviews.com/ is a helpful site. So are the amazon.com customer reviews. You have to read through carefully. There is no product that is right for everyone. What works for someone else may not work for you, and vice versa.

  5. for me the best websites are google, wikipedia, yahoo, www.prenhall.com/tarbuck

  6. Rainbow Resource carries thousands of books, both secular and Christian, most of them at a discount.  They will send you a free catalog the size of a phone book, or you can look through their site.
