  1. yes quite alot but I'll get lynched if I expand on this here

  2. Not really.

  3. there is a GREAT difference, like oife 83 said i wont start cause ill be reported for what i would be about to say!!!!!!!!!!

  4. John H and whoever asked this question were you both born ignorant or have you been practising? I'm going to stop myself there before my blood pressure rises. Harry Palmer is on the money. Its amazing that people are still so ignorant in 2006.

  5. Mainly the accent and level of intelligence...............

  6. where are you from??????????????????????

  7. yes there is! we're two completly different nationalities! i dont know where that question originated in your mind! thats like saying are americans and canadians the same? answer: no!

  8. Loads, English people are on the whole civilized and havn't just recently stopped bombing people and dishing out punishment beatings. English people are more intelligent, have an accent you can understand, arn't religious nutters, can cook more than potatos and are generally sober for most of their lives.

The big difference is that the English don't go on and on about hating the Irish and blaming them for all their troubles as the paddys do about us English.

  9. I dunno!!! I think maybe opinions and attitudes is the major difference!! and Ive only come to that decision since answering questions on here

  10. Fair play to Harry Palmer! Civilised, bombing people and Punishment beatings.....the war in Iraq springs to mind. As for "going on and on"....World Cup, 1966, do ye ever stop talkin bout it.

  11. a great difference between the english and the irish. they are two different countries. check out an atlas. main difference though is the irish have a broader outlook of people unlike the prime exactly of an english person.( the person who answered your question with a complete put down on irish people) . to him he should get his facts straight. the  so called irish that do the bombing as you put it are actually from northern ireland, which if im not mistaking is ruled under britain and these people are british citizens unlike the people from the republic of ireland!

  12. D'you know the level of stupidity in the answers to this equaly stupid question is beyond beleif. I can't believe how utterly ignorant some of the people who answered this question are. You shouldn't be allowed to breed incase you pass on your ignorance to another hapless generation of numbskulls

Maybe I can clear up some of your stupid accusations

And by the way. Before you make any assumptions about my motives know that I am English

! Britain and Ireland have always been different countries even before the Romans got here. Briton and Hibernia we were then

2 The crown of Britain as it was subjegated Ireland 800 or 900 years ago (forgive me if I cant be bothered to look that up)

3 Britain includes England, Scotland, Wales ONLY. Northern Ireland is NOT in Britain as Britain is an ISLAND. Northern Ireland remains part of the United Kingdom (UK) of Britain and Northern Ireland (for now anyway)

4 The duality of citizenship pre 23 is correct and you can still claim duel citizenship back to your grandparents

5 Ireland has a higher literacy rate than Britain and has more people per head of population attending 3rd level education. It also has attracted the highest level of knowledge based industrial investment in Europe. so I would think again on who is stupid

6 The bombers exist on both sides of the political argument for re-uniting the island of Ireland to it's nation state as existed previously. They also live both sides of the border. They have also been inactive for a very very long time now. Read a newspaper

7 Religion is not the cause of the troubles it is coincidental that most nationalists are Catholic and most Unionists are Protestant. the Unionist can in fact be more fanatical in their beleifs

8 The irish accent has as many variations as the English, some difficult some easy but no more difficult than a londoner trying to interpret a Geordie. Irish spoken English has been recognised worldwide as one of the best spoken variants and you will find they don't drop their Ts or say words like "summink" for "something", or "init" at the end of every sentence. Irish people teach english as a foreign language to people all over the world

9 The drinking culture in Britain is worse than Ireland. Drinking at lunchtime on a work day is common in Britain but is unheard of in Ireland

10 Irish women are amongst the most beautiful in the world as I can attest.

11 The hatred of Britain is subliminal

and not overtly in the public domain. There is not a hatred as such, more a resentment. Can you blame them when their entire history is overshadowed by invasion and subjegation by their richer neighbour and finally to have their country partitioned

12 Northern Ireland by the way is not generally recognised in the Republic as a valid state and is generally referred to as Ulster even though it only has 6 of Ulsters 9 counties. The people in the North likewise refer to the Republic as The Free State and do not recognise it as a country in it's own riight without the rest of Ulster. it is a temporary state of affairs.

12 The level of education about your nearest neighbour is negligable judging by this

I hope you all take note and learn a bit of history and go out and meet your neighbours before you say anything against them

Don't bother picking oyut the minor inaccuracies in this it was straight out of my head and I am not an encyclopedia

Regards to you, and your new sense of enlightenment

  13. Basically: the national religion of Ireland is Catholicism and the national game is Hurling. The national religion of [most of] Britain is soccer and the national sport is s*x.

  14. D MOVIE THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY CHANGED alot of ppls minds

  15. Not really.

Irish people tend to be a bit more pro-European than most British people, but in terms of language and general outlook on the world there isn't a huge difference in my experience.

  16. The two countries separated in 1923.  People born before 1923 may be citizens of both countries.

Northern Ireland is still a part of the UK.  The Republic of Ireland covers the southern 90% of the island.

  17. One wil knock your teeth out,. the other has no teeth,. or very bad ones....

  18. Yes there are a few, the main one being that one is British and the other is Irish. Crazy world eh?

  19. i hav dual nationallity.. i hav a irish and english passport cos my parents aren't married .... and because 1 is irish an 1 is english... and to be frank i hardly ever use my english 1... id rather be irish... and people seem more interested if u are irish cos they seem to have a better reputation... but thats just my reputation though

  20. As an Irish woman with an English husband. I find, English men are better in bed.

Also, Irish are not religious nutters, never go to church, and speak so quick because we dont want people to know what we are saying.

  21. you mean apart from the obvious? Ones Irish and the other's, you work it out.
